What I didn’t mention in the previous post is that, on that same trip to World Market where I scored the cute chair for the guest room, I also found some proper dining room chairs.
Backing up a bit–when we moved in, I snagged two teak patio chars from Orchard (now Outdoor) Hardware Supply for less then $50 each. When OHS went out of business (but prior to the renaming/resurrection), I snagged a matching pair for even less. So we had four dining room chairs that, while not the most comfortable, were at least functional.
The chairs are also made of wood, which, when one lives with parrots, means bits of the chairs will get eaten. Tenar had a particular habit of climbing the chairs and occasionally nipping at the armrests–destructive, but not nearly as bad as when we would have a jigsaw puzzle in progress on the table and he would eat some of the pieces. (Thankfully, I found a way to repair most pieces using some tacking clue and a flower press.)
So obviously I was delighted to find dining chairs that are not only hard for a bird to climb and chew, but also match our pretty blue velvet armchairs in the sitting area of the great room (which also came from World Market). I had to order the chairs online and then pick them up at a store–same thing with the chair for the guest room detailed in the last post.
Once here and in the space, they really tie the two areas together. Best of all, the new chairs are incredibly comfortable!
