Unlike the squirrels that are often out and about, we have another rodent which we almost never see up close. They do not like living up near the house and so we usually only see their holes. Occasionally we even catch them excavating, but such sightings are fleeting.
They are Botta’s Pocket Gophers. Like I said, we don’t see them often. The video, in fact, was shot this past spring over at Grant Ranch Park, which is located on the back side of our wee mountain.
