It is with much sadness that we share that our neighbor’s dog Happy passed away from cancer in the summer of 2025.
Happy was one of our very first friends here. We met him back in October 2015, when he spent a morning supervising Agent Smith and his dad as they worked on the yard fence: incredibly filthy, but also incredibly adorable. He was back the following week to supervise debris removal, just as dusty. From then on he was a regular, part of the neighbor pack that came by for treats, and while the others somehow stayed tidy, Happy always ended up a total mess. He survived having his paw run over by our pickup truck back when our Hesston crawler was delivered. I carried him a quarter-mile back to our place and then took him to the vet to make sure. Nothing was wrong with him, but he did get groomed and shorn, which made him less happy. He even got “collected” once by an overzealous animal control officer, along with Katie.
These days the visits continue with Boba and with Spartacus, who is now the last of the OG neighbor dogs.
We are less happy without our little Happy.
