Here at Purgatory Auto Works and Dinosaur Farm one can experience the quiet solitude of the Mount Diablo range while enjoying the stunning views of San Jose and the San Francisco Bay. Things are quiet up here and visitors can spend time bird watching, hiking, taking a dip in the pool, relaxing with a book or if they feel inclined towards manual labor, assisting in various outdoor endeavors or with the assembly and maintenance of the race cars.
Purgatory is an excellent base from which to explore the Santa Clara Valley as well as areas further afield such Santa Cruz, San Francisco and the Oakland/Berkley area which are all about an hour’s drive. In addition the outlet stores of Morgan Hill and the abundant garlic of Gilroy are 30 minutes south with Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur just a bit further along. Lastly, for those who like to drive narrow winding roads the Lick Observatory atop Mount Hamilton is nearby.
As for the practical stuff: yes we cook, no the boys won’t bite you as they’re generally kept away from the main areas of the house, and we have lots of clean towels.
