Last summer, a local auction house had a few interesting pieces going up on the block. I refrained from bidding on any of the many 8′-tall cat sculptures, as each one went for well over for $2K. Instead I picked up a couple of large cranes and some rusty geese for relatively little money.
The hardest part was getting the 9′ cranes into the back of Barbie, tying them down adequately and making it home all by myself. In the end, the feet of one of the cranes were poking up over the tailgate, but everything made it safely home. (Side note: this was the same auction month I managed to snag my pretty davenport desk.)
