Two years I was unsuccessful in finding a suitable name for our apatosaurus, so I’m restarting the contest!
Details: this is the first large dinosaur or sculpture of any sort we purchased for the ranch. I purchased it on auction from the estate of the late Carrie Fisher via Profiles in History (now Heritage Auctions) in late 2017. It needs a name though, as it will soon be joined by a few other sculptures.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment 1) here OR 2) on our Facebook page (for this post) with your suggested name(s); OR 3) you can email your suggestions to stega @ purgatory . org.
The nitty-gritty details:
-You can enter as many suggestions as you want, but if the same name is suggested twice, the first person to suggest a name gets the credit.
-Whatever name seems suitable (totally arbitrary I know) will be deemed the winning suggestion.
-The person who suggested the winning name will receive their very own Purgatory Auto Works and Dinosaur Farm baseball cap or canvas tote bag, and a few other fun items.
-Lastly, please: NO obvious Star Wars references.
Lastly, I’m currently looking to have this statue cleaned up/repainted/restored. I have a few leads but so far haven’t found anyone I’m super keen on yet. If you know anyone who does this kind of work, let me know.

His name is clearly Abelard. Abelard Beaufort Seymour.
Darrell Lance Abbott, nickname Dimebag
I simply can’t decide so we’re going to try this one more time and let some sort of cosmic karmic decide.
