Last summer a local auction house has a few pieces up going on the block that looked interesting. I refrained from bidding on any of the many 8′ tall cat sculptures as each one went for well over for 2K. Instead I picked up a couple of large cranes and some rusty geese for relatively little money.
The hardest part was getting the 9′ cranes into the back of Barbie, tying them down adequately and making it home — all by myself. In the end the feet of one of the cranes were poking up over the tailgate, but everything made it safely home. (Side note: this was the same auction month I managed to snag my pretty davenport desk.)
Here are some shots of them at the time of writing this post. You may notice there is something different about the landscaping surrounding the “front” of our house….more about that in the next post.
