In addition to the toolbox-turned-charing station detailed in the last post, I decided to be creative when I wanted something fun for my AppleWatch. I was late to the AppleWatch ranks as I just got one a bit over a year ago, but shortly after I started using it I decided I wanted a more fun way to charge it.
I went looking on Etsy for options and found a seller that offered up a stand that looked like a vintage mid-80s Mac. only problem was that color was all wrong. So, as we have a 3D printer of our own and several users over at Thingaverse.com had upload STL files for printing one’s own watch stand, I got busy.
Not happy with the basic white, I hand painted my print output to have that aged yellow plastic feel of a real unit. Then I glued some spare bits of metal to the charger insert to provide some extra weight which make the setup much. more stable. The final touch was a wee-handprinted rainbow apple logo. The end result is oh so cute and functional. Every night when I slip my watch into the slot to charge…..I smile.
