New Signs

Posted on July 7, 2017May 4, 2025 By stega

We finally found a solution to getting our spiffy logo at our front gate. When we first looked at the house, the POs had a big metal plaque on the right pillar with their name on it and thankfully they took it with them when they moved out. We put new address numbers on the right pillar shortly after moving in, with the idea that someday we’d have a logo. We found a designer on Freelancer last year and got our logo, but we were slow on doing much with it outside of slapping it up here and having some stickers and window clings printed.

I spent a lot of time looking at various engraving and plastic casting (expensive!) options before I found BuildASign.com. I was able to just upload our logo, sort out the sizing and add a nice black border, and a few days later a spiffy metal sign arrived. Not expensive, not difficult to set up, and pretty much just want we wanted.

This was during the whole driveway repaving chaos, so we had to wait for that to finish up before putting up the sign. Now though, it looks pretty awesome.

Side note: we liked the BuildASign folks so much, we also made some nice address signs to mark the homes of ourselves and our nearest neighbors. Those signs, along with sorting the mapping data for our area, have done a great deal to keep people from missing our driveway and continuing up the mountain, where turning about can be interesting.
