Cue the Time Machine music…
Way back in December of 2022 we discovered an issue with our well. The float mechanism inside the tank was stuck, and as a result flooded the controls 150 feet down the track at the board where all the well smarts live.
Flooded electrical meant we could no longer keep the tank full automatically, but that wasn’t the only issue–turns out the pipe from the head to the tank broke. This meant when we pumped, water wasn’t going into the tank but running back down the track instead. Thankfully, the run from the tank down to the house was not an issue.
We put in a quick and dirty fix to allow us to continue to pump into the tank. This involved our trusty hose-and-cart setup. We took it up the hill and attached one end to the wellhead and the other to the fill pipe.
And then, we made a call. Thankfully, our regular plumbers also handle most of the storm drain and sewer work for San Jose. A month later, things got really, really interesting.
